China drops truth bomb on Xinjiang terrorists: Here is how the world should react

China drops truth bomb on Xinjiang terrorists: Here is how the world should reactChina Global Television Network (CGTN) shocked the international civil society by broadcasting new documentaries that showed graphic images of terrorist attacks in Xinjiang in the past decade last week. Unsurprisingly, skeptics were quick to accuse the international broadcaster of seeking to vindicate China's “re-education program” in the far western region, where over a million Muslims live.
That's hardly all of it. Talking a good line, however, the truth never damages a cause that is just. CGTN did the right thing to thrust Xinjiang's terrorism problem into the international spotlight, and the evidence is still overwhelming.
No doubt, trans-regional terrorism represents a genuine threat to any nation's security, freedom, and values. Just like other nations, China has a right and a duty to provide a humane and tailored response to terrorism, extremism, and separatism. Despite some dra..

Changing label of Iran’s sanctions to make it harder to remove sanctions: Nephew

Changing label of Iran’s sanctions to make it harder to remove sanctions: NephewTEHRAN –Richard Nephew, who served as the lead sanctions expert for the US team negotiating with Iran, is of the opinion that “It is true that this is the Trump Administration's intention: to make it much harder to remove the sanctions in the future because now entities and individuals are considered “terrorists” in addition to “proliferators”.”
The fellow at the Center on Global Energy Policy at Columbia University, says that it is harder to see US pressure on Iran “the president has the authority to remove these designations no matter what they are, provided that they are not required explicitly under US law. The term “nuclear-related sanctions” has no legal standing in US law, only in the JCPOA as a term of art.”
Following is the text of the interview:
Q: The United States recently sanctioned Iran's central bank under the label “fight against terrorism”. What changes has this label made to Ir..

‘Crows in the Rain is a pathway to every person’s infinite inner world’

‘Crows in the Rain is a pathway to every person's infinite inner world’TEHRAN– In an exclusive interview with Mehr, the successful Tehran-based post-rock band ‘Crows in the Rain’ aptly described the band as a “pathway to every person's infinite inner world.”
Post-rock is one of those really tricky genres. The music could either be the best thing you’ve ever heard in your life and will continue to be on loop to the end of time, or it may come across as generic and repetitive and completely unmemorable and already ticked off your playlist after the first listen.
Fortunately for the Tehran-based ‘Crows in the Rain’, their music falls into the first category. Each track could easily be someone’s favorite, and I, personally, have a hard time skipping on any of them. The music, composed on piano, electric guitar, bass and drums, tugs at your heartstrings with its mournful, melancholic tone, and revitalizes your artistic calling, no matter how much or little of it you think you hav..

Armed democracy: NATO greatest achievement for Europe

NATO, while stating a security strategy, continued to regard Russia as a threat to the security of Atlantic and euro area, just like it was during the Cold War. The organization also claimed that cyber operations, terrorist acts and those effective state and non-state actors that are not aligned, should be confronted as factors that have challenged the world order.
NATO’s strategy has shifted from the level of security concerns over Russia and global challenges to the level of preparedness for possible military confrontation. IRICA taking more steps to facilitate imports, combat sanctions

IRICA taking more steps to facilitate imports, combat sanctionsTEHRAN- Since the U.S. re-imposition of sanctions against Iran’s economy, Islamic Republic of Iran Customs Administration (IRICA) has been taking various measures to facilitate customs process both for exports and imports of the commodities to reduce the effect of sanctions.
IRICA Head Mehdi Mir-Ashrafi says that this round of sanctions is tougher than the previous round; so more strategic actions are needed to nullify them.
As the sanctions may make the country face shortage of basic goods, the government and IRICA have taken various measures to avoid such condition.
One major action is facilitating condition for the importers of the basic commodities, for example providing them necessary foreign currency through NIMA (Iran’s Forex Management Integrated System).
Also in August, Iran’s Finance and Economic Affairs Minister Farhad Dejpasand, in a directive addressing the IRICA head, obliged the customs administration to t..

Iranians welcome dual-fuel cars as gas prices riseTEHRAN – Head of National Iranian Oil Products Distribution Company (NIOPDC) says since the implementation of the gasoline rationing scheme and the increase in the prices, people are leaning more toward dual-fuel cars.
“The demand for converting single-fuel cars into dual-fuel ones has also grown due to the rationing and rising gas prices,” Amir Vakilzadeh said in an interview with the state TV on Sunday night.
According to the official, since the implementation of the rationing program in mid-November, over 70,000 people have registered their cars for dual-fuel conversion.
“Fortunately, in the past two years we have been preparing the infrastructure needed to implement such a program and, using our previous experiences, we have designed a system for this purpose,” Vakilzadeh said.
